I hope y’all are ready because it’s time for me to get real and share some thoughts that have been on my mind quite a bit lately. This post is for the recently graduated college gals (although I’m sure others can relate too!) It’s back to school time and I don’t know about you, but it’s giving me all the feels. I always enjoyed getting packed and prepared to move back to college so now that I don’t have to do that, I feel a little weird. This season is so different than anything I’ve ever experienced and it’s not necessarily easy to navigate. Anyone relate?
I expected life after college to be a lot different than it is for me, but I’m learning that it’s OK that things haven’t gone as planned. It’s OK that I’m not working at my dream job (yet!). It’s OK that I live at home with my parents. It’s OK that I’m still working through what I want to do with my life and trying to find my purpose. If you’re struggling too, just remember that God has a plan for you. You may not understand why things happen, but know that there’s a reason and you’re not in this alone.
This is a topic that can be hard to discuss because it’s kind of uncomfortable and doesn’t feel right to share online. I’m glad I shared though because it describes where I’m really at in life right now. Social media has become a highlight reel, which isn’t necessarily always a bad thing, but it can create unrealistic expectations. So I’m here to keep it real with y’all.
If you feel like you’re in the same place, I hope you take away this:
This is you not just settling for a small life. This is you waiting and working to find the life that aligns with your goals, and that’s something that you should actually be proud of.
